About the Course

The Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is a 2 day course providing those with supervisory responsibilities, working within a construction environment, with the knowledge of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.  It also provides information on the Health and Safety responsibilities they have in relation to their role.

Overview

The SSSTS course highlights legal responsibilities and the need to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.

At the end of the course learners will have an understanding of:

• health and safety law and how it applies to supervisors
• your supervisory responsibilities in controlling site safely
• risk assessments and the need for method statements
• effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
• monitoring site activities effectively
• timely intervention when bad practice is identified

Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken.

How long is the SSSTS course?

The SSSTS course is completed over 2 days (Weekend courses are available)

How will I be assessed?

In order to successfully complete the course you will need to take part in all the sessions over the two days, and pass a multiple choice and written question paper at the end of the course.
