About This NVQ

The aim of the NVQ Level 3 in Wood Occupations – Carpentry qualification is to recognise the skills, knowledge and understanding, as well as being able to demonstrate competence in the workplace when carrying out Carpentry works.

Who is the NVQ For?

The NVQ Level 3 in Wood Occupations – Carpentry qualification is aimed at candidates who are employed in a Carpentry role and experienced Carpenters. It has been developed for completion in a real workplace environment and on completion of the NVQ, you will be able to apply for a gold ‘advanced craft’ cscs card.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, the qualification will assess a learner’s competence in their current job role. Learners must be aged 16+ and be working in a role that will allow them to demonstrate their competence against the required units.

Delivery

Learners will be assessed using a range of methods tailored to the learners needs. These vary from on-site assessments, observations, written questions, evidence generated from the workplace, professional discussions, and witness testimonies.

Our NVQ Process

Evidence is gathered by means of; videos, photographs, on-site assessments, observations, written questions, workplace documents, professional discussions and witness testimonies. Your assessor will support you throughout the process. Evidence is uploaded and assessed via an E Portfolio whereby you can track your progress throughout.

NVQ Content

Typical units within the Level 3 Carpentry NVQ include:

Mandatory Units:

  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Confirming work activities and resources for an occupational area in the workplace
  • Developing and maintaining good occupational working relationships in the workplace
  • Confirming the occupational method of work in the workplace
  • Installing bespoke first fixing components in the workplace
  • Installing bespoke second fixing components in the workplace
  • Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace

 

Optional Units:

  • Erecting structural carcassing components in the workplace
  • Maintaining non-structural or structural components in the workplace
  • Erecting roof structure carcassing components in the workplace
