About This NVQ

The aim of the NVQ Level 2 in Trowel Occupations – Bricklaying qualification is to recognise the skills, knowledge and understanding, as well as being able to demonstrate competence in the workplace when carrying out Bricklaying works.

Who is the NVQ For?

The NVQ Level 2 in Trowel Occupations – Bricklaying qualification is aimed at candidates who are employed in a Bricklaying role. It has been developed for completion in a real workplace environment and on completion of the NVQ, you will be able to apply for a blue ‘skilled worker’ cscs card.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, the qualification will assess a learner’s competence in their current job role. Learners must be aged 16+ and be working in a role that will allow them to demonstrate their competence against the required units.

Delivery

Learners will be assessed using a range of methods tailored to the learners needs. These vary from on-site assessments, observations, written questions, evidence generated from the workplace, professional discussions, and witness testimonies.

Our NVQ Process

Evidence is gathered by means of; videos, photographs, on-site assessments, observations, written questions, workplace documents, professional discussions and witness testimonies. Your assessor will support you throughout the process. Evidence is uploaded and assessed via an E Portfolio whereby you can track your progress throughout.

NVQ Content

Typical units within the Bricklaying NVQ include:

Mandatory Units:

  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • Erecting masonry structures in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
  • Setting out to form masonry structures in the workplace

 

Optional Units:

  • Erecting masonry cladding in the workplace
  • Erecting thin joint masonry structures in the workplace
  • Repairing and maintaining masonry structures in the workplace
  • Placing and compacting concrete in the workplace
  • Installing drainage in the workplace
  • Installing and forming specialist masonry elements in the workplace
